Maayan Zilberman was born on a Kibbutz in Israel then grew up in Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from the the School of Visual Arts in New York City with a degree in Sculpture followed by a residency at the Ratti Foundation in Como, Italy. Maayan spent the last 15 years working as a Creative Director and Designer in the lingerie industry. In 2007 she co-founded designer intimates line The Lake & Stars, then reimagined Fredericks of Hollywood. The currently consults as a Creative Director to lingerie and fashion brands.
In November 2015, Maayan founded candy line Sweet Saba in New York City. Starting where her vision for intimates left off, Sweet Saba is a unique collection of "grown-up" candy with stories both inviting and mysterious. Emulating real objects, these poignant handmade sculptures offer a multi-sensory experience through memory, unexpected flavor, and a sense of humor.
