ANGELICA HICKS ANNOUNCED AS COMMISSIONED ARTIST FOR 2019 HOLIDAY PUBLIC ART PRESENTATION at ROCKEFELLER CENTER®
PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ART PRODUCTION FUND

*****

NEW YORK, NY— New York-based illustrator Angelica Hicks has been selected as the commissioned artist for the 2019 holiday public art presentation at Rockefeller Center. This year’s presentation will feature several activations throughout Rockefeller Center including large-scale printed vinyl murals displayed in indoor and outdoor locations, a free holiday map of Rockefeller Center available to all who work at or visit the Center, and takeaway temporary tattoos all featuring Hick’s celebrated illustrations.

This presentation is the latest iteration of the year-long Art in Focus public art program presented in partnership with the non-profit Art Production Fund. The public mural installation and free holiday map will be on view starting Monday, November 25.

Finding inspiration in the iconic holiday season at Rockefeller Center, Hicks has created a series of illustrations depicting various winter scenes. The famed Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, the ice skating rink, and more will all be portrayed in Hicks’ fun and recognizable style. Known for her playful aesthetic, Hicks’ distinct illustrations combine caricatures with clever witticisms.

Hicks’ work will be seen in thirteen public locations throughout Rockefeller Center including inside 10 Rockefeller Plaza, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 50 Rockefeller Plaza and the street and concourse levels of 45 Rockefeller Plaza, as well as outside in Rockefeller Plaza. The free holiday map takeaway will be available at the information desk of the 30 Rockefeller Plaza lobby.

I was so flattered to be approached by Art Production Fund and Rockefeller Center to collaborate on the holiday public art commission because it is the ultimate setting and subject for the holiday season. In my mind, Rockefeller Center is the utmost representation of the festive spirit so being asked to contribute to it is truly a dream come true.” – Angelica Hicks.

We are thrilled to present Angelica Hicks as this year’s commissioned holiday artist at Rockefeller Center.
