CA 90069

The Standard, Hollywood in collaboration with Art Production Fund present the installation of artist Casey Legler’s Untitled_Exercises. Legler’s work will remain on view from September through early 2015.

Casey Legler’s Untitled_Exercises, a digital video compilation, was initially created as a large format street video intervention in 2011. Legler’s work includes a series of five films speaking to, among other things, the question of the body as an object and the possible limits of its subsequent abstractions as a locus of agency.

The Standard, Hollywood, in particular, embraces local artists through continued art installations. The glass box behind the front desk houses a live model that coexists with the rotating exhibitions 24/7.  In past months, The Standard, Hollywood has featured works from artists including Shannon Plumb, Mike Stilkey, Erin Garcia, Tommii Lim and more.

Casey Legler was raised in both France and the United States. She is a Phi Beta Kappa and Ada Comstock Scholar graduate from Smith College, 2007. This Fall, her first solo exhibition at OSMOS Address in New York Unveiled narrative works of still photography, video, sound and performance – each involving the artist as both the impersonator and viewer of characteristic actions. Legler’s work has appeared in The Guardian, Vogue, V Magazine, Time and CNN. She is currently working on a memoir recounting her girlhood and years as an Olympic athlete.
