HEIN KOH

Braving the Cold, 2019

“Braving the Cold,” a variety of digital drawings and sculptures from Brooklyn-based artist Hein Koh, is the latest installation in the ‘Art in Focus’ series currently on display at Rockefeller Center. The works feature loud and passionate colors and explore love, fantasy and femininity, with a heavy surrealist streak. Koh’s work can be seen in several locations throughout Rockefeller Center including inside 10 Rockefeller Plaza, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 50 Rockefeller Plaza and the street and concourse levels of 45 Rockefeller Plaza, as well as outside in Rockefeller Plaza and in the light boxes along Fifth Avenue.

‘Art in Focus’ is a multidisciplinary program that showcases installations by contemporary artists inspired by the New York City landscape and contemporary life. Artists featured in the series will have their work displayed in a number of unique and unexpected locations throughout Rockefeller Center. ‘Art in Focus’ is presented in partnership with Art Production Fund. Joana Avillez’s “Rockefeller Center Holiday Map” kicked off the series in December 2018.

Hein Koh is a distinguished artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of Dartmouth College with an M.F.A. from Yale University, she is a recipient of a Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation Grant and an Artists in the Marketplace residency at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.
