MAI UEDA: P3 STUDIO
- Date: April 06 - 28, 2012
- Location: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
- Artists: Mai Ueda
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in partnership with Art Production Fund is pleased to announce its next Artist-in-Residence, Mai Ueda, who’ll host experimental tea ceremonies in P3 Studio every Friday and Saturday throughout April.
The tea ceremonies will be Mai’s contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese ritual’s spirit of leaving the real world behind and having no boundaries. Guests will be invited to experience new sensations such as communicating in abstract languages while acting as a panda bear, surrendering to gravity and sharing the space with infinite reflections of themselves.
Mai, a Japanese artist currently residing in New York City, was inspired to create her take on tea ceremonies after exploring and participating in different ceremonies all over the world and then returning to Japan with her new perspective.
Sign up to participate in the tea ceremony of your choice at: http://bit.ly/P3StudioTeaCeremonies. Guests are welcome to watch the cermonies from outside the intimate tea room as well.
The Artist-in-Residence program at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas represents one component of its larger art program, developed and curated in partnership with Art Production Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to producing ambitious public art projects, reaching new audiences and expanding awareness through contemporary art.
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is committed to building a platform for art and culture as an integral part of the guest experience. P3 Studio is an artist-in-residence program that invites international, national and local artists to create projects that are interactive and participatory, giving guests the opportunity to connect with art at an authentic and personal level. The program debuted with artist Fab 5 Freddy when the resort opened in December 2010, and since has included artists Shelter Serra, MK Guth, Luftwerk, Jerry Misko and Curtis Kulig.Download PDF
